Rough brown spots on skin

If breakouts are taking a toll on your self esteem, you’ve probably tried most of the available acne treatment products and still haven’t had much luck. When it seems like you’ve tried everything, sometimes the best skin care treatments can be the most simple. Here are some tips on how you can simplify your acne treatment, to help you prevent further breakouts, acne scars, and other damaging effects to your skin.

Reduce your use – If you’ve been trying out different kinds of acne treatment products, make sure you aren’t over-washing your face. The products you’re using may not have been designed to work with additional products, and it could be clogging your pores, drying out your skin, or damaging your existing breakouts. Try to simplify your routine with a basic face wash and moisturizer with acne-clearing ingredients.

Get out in the sun – One of the simplest ways to reduce acne is to get more sun. When you increase your sun exposure, you give your skin the dose of vitamin D that it needs to stay healthy and clear. Just make sure that you wear your sunscreen, because nothing feels worse than a sunburned zit. If you live in an area that doesn’t get a lot of sun, try taking vitamin D supplements, or making a weekly tanning appointment.

Change your diet – Nobody wants to hear that they have to give up french fries, but if you tend to eat a lot of greasy food, then you could be in trouble. The greasy food itself can lend a hand to your body creating the additional oils that lead to breakouts, but the grease from the food could be left over on your hands and face, causing your pores to become clogged and giving you extra zits. If you find these changes still don’t help your acne clear up, make sure you visit your dermatologist to find out the real cause of your breakouts.
