The Statim Autoclave is the real deal. Here’s why.

In the mid-19th century, French chemist Louis Pasteur found that bacteria can be killed at 120 degrees Fahrenheit. He invented the sterilization technique of boiling or heating instruments to kill microorganisms. His efforts eventually led to the use of the autoclave as a standard medical tool.

What is the autoclave?

To first get an understanding of why it works, you must become familiar with the basic tenets of bacteria. Bacteria are microorganisms, typically a few micrometers in length. They are among the first life forms to appear on Earth and inhabit most Earth habitats. Bacteria inhabit soil, water, acidic hot springs, radioactive waste, and the Earth’s crust.

The study of bacteria is known as bacteriology, a branch of microbiology. A large number of bacteria live in the gut, while a large number also live on the skin. Many are rendered harmless by immune systems and a number are actually beneficial to the gut. Several species of bacteria are pathogenic and cause serious illnesses.

These include cholera, syphilis, anthrax, leprosy, and the bubonic plague. The most common fatal bacterial diseases are respiratory infections such as tuberculosis, which kills 1.2 million people each, most of which are in sub-Saharan Africa. In Western countries, antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections.

Bacteria covers a great deal of items traditionally used by humans in every day society. When you think of cell phones, toilet seats, money, coffee shop tables, you may not think first of the bacteria associated with them. But all these items are touched by multiple people over the course of the day (or lifetime) and have a great deal of germs.

Bacteria are a part of every day life and for most, this is not a particularly significant matter, as their immune symptoms prevent a great deal of these bacteria from developing into illnesses in their body. Those that do will take antibiotic medication that will reduce symptoms or symptom severity.

However, think about the following industries: Tattoo parlors, medical facilities, dentist practices, funeral homes, veterinary facilities. What do all these have in common? The answer is simple: The need to provide sterilized instruments for their operations. Let’s take a look.

The following instruments are used in any number of these industries:

  • Scalpels
  • Needles
  • Piercing guns
  • Teeth picks
  • Clamps
  • Hoses
  • Drills
  • Embalming equipment

And much, much more. Each of these items needs to be sterilized as part of their safe and health-conscious practices within one of these industries. A bacteria ridden scalpel for instance might lead to infected tissue in one of the patient’s heart walls, causing infection and possibly fatality.

A germ-ridden teeth pick in dentistry might lead to some kind of gum issue, which could spread to different parts of the mouth and therefore lead to some kind of hospital stay. A bacteria infested needle might lead to infection beneath the skin for those getting a tattoo. An infected tattoo might lead to hospitalization.

That’s where the autoclave comes in.

An autoclave is a pressure chamber used to carry out industrial processes required elevated temperature and pressure different than that of which is found in a standard room (ambient air pressure). It is used in both medical applications and the chemistry industry, with many used to sterilize equipment.

An autoclave works by providing a high pressure and high temperature steam to objects in an enclosed environment. The temperature and time varies, though it is usually 134 degrees Celsius for three minutes or 121 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes. It is used in medical application to erase bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores.

You may be asking: How many of these places have a need for autoclaves?

  • There are 21,000 tattoo parlors in the United States.
  • Approximately 46.5 million surgical procedures are performed each year.

Not to mention the amount of people that end up in funeral homes, animals that go to the vet, and more. For autoclaves, a whole industry has sprouted up. There are companies that provide equipment for veterinary autoclave, nail autoclave, autoclave repair, and the refurbished autoclave.

The Autoclave Statim is a particular kind of autoclave. The Autoclave Statim is the world’s best selling autoclave, this due to its speed and dependability. The Autoclave Statim also has a “gentle technology” and an interactivity that may not be seen in the others. One kind of Autoclave Statim is in fact wireless.
