Many people within the United States may choose to have one or more procedures performed in order to improve their appearance. While some of these procedures may be more invasive than others, there are quite a few that are minimally invasive. The American Society for Dermatologic Surgery reported that 70% of the population has actually thought about having some type of procedure performed.
In 2015, for example, these surgical procedures were the most requested by women:
- Liposuction
- Breast augmentation
- Tummy tuck
- Breast lift
- Eyelid surgery
Within the following year, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported that there were a significant number of procedures performed. This amounted to 17.1 million surgical and minimally-invasive procedures performed within the United States alone. Breast augmentation, however, was requested more than any other procedure. There were 290,467 breast augmentations performed during 2016.
Over half of the plastic surgeons within this country have noted that they’ve had more patients requesting cheekbone work. In fact, this amounted to a 56% increase in requests for cheekbone restoration. A recent American Society for Dermatologic Survey found that its respondents were considering the following procedures:
- Body sculpting: 58%
- Laser hair removal: 47%
- Microdermabrasion: 53%
Sun damage, according to doctors, is known to cause or otherwise contribute to 80% of the skin’s aging process. This is considered to be even more damaging than a lack of sleep, insufficient hydration, or smoking. As their skin ages, many individuals may choose to have dermal fillers to smooth out wrinkles and address other skin imperfections. In addition to dermal fillers, a large percentage of people may choose to have Botox injections to address their wrinkles, brow furrows, and other issues.
Since you would like to learn more about these and other types of procedures, you can schedule a consultation with your local cosmetic surgery center. At that time, you can discuss your concerns and be evaluated for a variety of procedures. Furthermore, your cosmetic surgeon will make recommendations and provide you with detailed information about what is involved. This includes the time it takes to perform each procedure, possible side-effects, and recovery time.
